Marvel, DC, Dan Slott and Spiderverse.

Okay I’ve seen the tumblr scans for the Spider-Girl back up and I’m NOT Happy. I’m Not excited. I’m annoyed and here’s is why. Apparently Dan Slott thought the best thing for Spiderverse or Spider-Verse however you want too spell it. Thought it was best too take Mayday as far away from her roots by killing off her parents so he can make her into another dime a dozen anti-hero.

Now I have No problem with Anti-heroes in general but Mayday just isn’t someone who should be an anti-hero. It doesn’t help that there is a plethora of Anti-heroes. This is just another of one of the reasons I’m not excited  for Spiderverse. I think this is a bad sign for the industry overall.  I can’t really say I didn’t expect this development but too me that makes it even worse.

Too me this is another sign that Spiderverse will be another bad crossover. Countdown, Ultimatum, Cry for Justice. What do these things have in common? Well for starters they all sucked. Now what do they have in common with Spiderverse?

Shock deaths. All these events are filled with death for shock value. On the off chance any future writers read this. Take this note. Shock deaths are one of the cheapest idiotic things you can do for a story.

They don’t add too the story. I’m not saying death can’t be used too make a story. But it has too mean something. Shock deaths mean jack squat. Sadly it seems Marvel hasn’t learned this lesson.

Stop me if you heard this one. A comic company is having a big event and our giving interviews about an interesting character. The interviews seem to indicate he’ll be a big player in the event only too kill him off shortly after he was introduced. Does that sound familiar? it should because that was the fate of the Jokester in Countdown and Apparently the fate of Aaron Aikman in Spiderverse.
